Message from Associate Dean Robnett
As the School of Social Science’s Associate Dean for Faculty Development, my goal
is to create programs to support the advancement of our senate faculty members. To
that end, equitably inclusive and supportive environments facilitate excellence that
benefits our departments and the School in general. I am working to institute programs
1. Support professional development;
2. Foster productive mentor-mentee relationships; and,
3. Develop a faculty leadership pipeline
As the School of Social Sciences Associate Dean for Diversity, I am equally focused on programmatic initiatives that build a learning and work environment that further supports and encourages equitable inclusion for all students and faculty members. Communication, action and accountability are vital building blocks towards the creation of this hospitable environment.
Communication: All members of our Social Sciences community should have an opportunity to contribute to the conversation. This website offers many links including a set of Communication Best Practices. Please look for important notifications through the Events tab that will provide information regarding School of Social Sciences diversity related events, workshops and informational tools and resources.
Action and Accountability: Trust rests on action and accountability not empty promises and slogans. Our implementation of evidence-based methods will be assessed annually to see what works and what does not work. Our findings will be published on my webpage. I feel that it is just as important for me to publish my failures as my successes. What worked and what didn’t work?
