Diversity Education Certificate Program

Launched in the 2018-2019 academic year, the School of Social Sciences Diversity Education Certificate Program provides our faculty members with tools to foster diversity and to support inclusivity in our everyday interactions with colleagues and students. To that end this program serves to provide our faculty members with a toolkit of actions that are designed to create positive School, department and classroom climates for diversity; develop equitable and inclusive faculty hiring and graduate admissions practices; and intervene to combat stereotype threats and to counter bias. UCI is a federally designated Asian-American, Native American, Pacific Islander, and Hispanic Serving institution. Additionally, we are nationally recognized for our commitment to empowering students from all backgrounds. With half of the UCI student body comprised of first generation college students, it is important for us to work together to create a positive impact on our learning community. Equitably inclusive and supportive environments facilitate excellence that benefits our departments and the School in general.

On your way to earning the Certificate, these educational activities may be reported as your contributions to campus diversity and equitable inclusion for merit and promotion reviews.
